SOMPO HOLDINGS Introduction

Sompo Japan Insurance Inc. ("Sompo Japan"), which is one of the largest insurance companies in Japan with a history stretching back to 1888. Sompo Japan is a wholly owned subsidiary of SOMPO HOLDINGS, a listed company in Tokyo Stock Exchange.

SOMPO HOLDINGS was founded in April 2010 as the joint holding company facilitating the management integration of Sompo Japan Insurance Inc. ("Sompo Japan") and Nipponkoa Insurance Co. Ltd. ("Nipponkoa"). In September 2014, Sompo Japan and Nipponkoa, each having a history going back more than 120 years, merged to form Sompo Japan Nipponkoa Insurance Inc. ("Sompo Japan Nipponkoa"). Sompo Japan Nipponkoa becomes Japan's largest P&C insurance company in terms of net premiums written on a stand-alone basis. In Apirl 2020, Sompo Japan Nipponkoa changed its name into Sompo Japan Insurance Inc.

SOMPO HOLDINGS deploys various businesses: Domestic P&C Insurance as our core business, Domestic Life Insurance, Overseas Insurance and Financial and other Services.
